Scientist examining jewelry under a microscope in a lab.

Initial Inspection

We examine each piece for markings (hallmarks), craftsmanship, and condition to identify metal type and potential purity.

Items are grouped by type and karat to ensure accurate testing and valuation.

Each item is weighed using calibrated scales, with non-metal components accounted for to ensure true metal weight.

Each Item is photographed and catalogued to ensure transparency and security.

Purity Verification

How we confirm gold content accurately and responsibly

We use professional testing methods selected based on the item, its condition, and its construction. Whenever possible, we begin with non-destructive testing and only use additional methods if needed to ensure accuracy.

XRF Analysis (X-Ray Fluorescence)
A non-destructive test that uses X-ray technology to identify the metal composition of your item. This allows us to verify purity quickly and accurately without damaging the piece.

Acid Testing
A traditional and reliable method where a small surface sample is tested with specialized acids to confirm karat level. This test is used selectively and performed with care to minimize impact.

Density and Weight Verification
By measuring weight and volume, we calculate density to confirm whether an item matches the expected profile of solid gold versus plated or hollow pieces.

Magnet and Conductivity Screening
A preliminary screening method used to rule out non-precious metals. While not a final determination, it helps guide the appropriate next testing steps.

Multi-Method Confirmation
In some cases, we use more than one testing method to ensure results are accurate, consistent, and properly documented before an offer is finalized.
